Yummy Eggnog Snickerdoodles

It’s a little early for Eggnog but I had to try out this wonderful recipe:) It’s a basic recipe for Snickerdoodles with a twist of added flavors, Rum and Nutmeg…. Now I used rum extract but you can used real rum or brandy if you like…. I just didn’t have any on hand…. The smell of nutmeg filled my kitchen … made me want to run out and grab pint of Eggnog…

Here’s the recipe for Eggnog Snickerdoodles
1/2 cup of unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup of shortening
1 1/2 cup of sugar
2 eggs
1tsp. rum extract
2 3/4 cup of all purpose flour
2tsp . cream of tartar
1tsp. baking soda
1/4tsp. salt
1 1/2tsp. of nutmeg
For rolling the dough in…
1/2 cup of sugar
1 1/2tsp. nutmeg

In a small bowl, Combine the 1/2 cup of sugar and 1 1/2tsp. of nutmeg together. Just set aside for rolling the dough in.Combine the flour, cream of tarter, baking soda, nutmeg, and salt. Whisk together and set this aside too. Cream together butter, shortening, 1 1/2 cup of sugar until fluffy. Add in the eggs and rum. Then gradually add the flour mix until all the flour is combined in. Scoop out into balls and roll in the nutmeg sugar. Place on the cookie sheet and take a glass and flat the cookie dough down some. Bake at 350 F for about 7 minutes….
